Elder Candidates

We’re in a discernment process for the selection of new Elders for Lighthouse who will begin a two-year term of service on October 1. Last Sunday three candidates were presented during our worship services: Tavi Siochi (married to Jackie), Lowell Soong (married to Judy) and Jason Wong (married to Cindy). You can view pictures and read biographical statements on each of them here below. An important aspect of this discernment process is the 15-day comment period (Aug 21-Sept 4), during which those who attend Lighthouse are encouraged to give their feedback on any of the candidates by sending a confidential email to the current Elder team at: elders@lighthouse2001.org. Please include your name, since anonymous feedback will not be considered. Thank you.

Jason Wong

I was born, raised and have lived my entire 52 years here in the Seattle area. I was baptized 30 years ago during my senior year of college at Chinese Baptist Church, where I served in a number of roles including Trustee, fellowship leader and Children’s Church leader. Cindy and I have been married 26 years and have two sons, Mitchell (16) and Colson (14). We joined Lighthouse Christian Church around 2003, where I have served mostly in small groups and set-up with some short stints as a Sunday School teacher and other ministries. My 30-year career has spanned management roles in telecommunications, consulting and software, most recently at Microsoft working on mergers and acquisitions. After a brief retirement (“half-time”), I have recently joined the faculty at Seattle University. I look forward to spending the second half of my life serving God, strengthening my marriage, growing our sons into men of God, and pursuing more hobbies than I can count.

Lowell Soong

I was born in Taiwan, moved to the US when I was 4, our family came to Seattle in 1981. I was raised in a Christian home, growing up at Evangelical Chinese Church of Seattle where I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior during 8th Grade Sunday School, met my wife Judy in high school fellowship, and baptized in 1988. I attended UW and was active in Asian American Christian Fellowship and COHI ministries. After graduation, I moved to California and was an active member at Cerritos Baptist Church, involved in the Worship & Sound ministries, co-leading the young adult group and managing the church’s city men’s softball team. After getting married and returning back to Seattle in 2001, we started attending Lighthouse Christian Church, serving as a small group leader, retreat planning team member, and vocalist in the Worship ministry. We have two children, Alex and Benji, a cat named Ringo, a chinchilla named Bo, and a bunch of chickens to keep us company. I work in the parts department at Audi Bellevue. I am a big foodie, love watching and playing sports, and enjoy spending time with friends and family. God has blessed me with an amazing journey, teaching me through awesome people and experiences, and growing my faith with opportunities to be a light for Him and to share His Love.

Tavi Siochi

I am a Seattle transplant having grown up in the Philippines. Jackie and I meet here and married 13 years ago. We have 3 awesome kids Misty, Andrea, and Christian and we homeschool the two youngest kiddos. I work for an advertising technology company in a management role. I grew up in a Christian home however Jackie and I really began walking closely with Christ upon our coming to Lighthouse about 8 years ago. Through our small groups and our Lighthouse family, we have seen Christ do a mighty work in our marriage and in our family's life. We believe that the rest of our life should be spent seeking to grow closer to our Savior. We also are incredibly grateful for the role that Lighthouse has played in our personal journey and for the amazing work that God is doing through Lighthouse locally and internationally.
