2 Minutes - SILENCE, STILLNESS AND CENTERING WITH GOD
1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.
Think about times in your life when you have felt a strong awareness of God’s presence with you. Then consider times when his presence seemed elusive and you even felt abandoned by God. Sometimes we can miss God because we aren’t paying attention to him. Sometimes we can’t see God because things are not right between us.
King David had sinned against God. His guilt and shame were exposed. But when he admitted what he had done and accept- ed the consequences, he experienced God’s grace and mercy. His intimate relationship with God was not only restored, but grew deeper and richer because he humbled himself before a loving God.
Ask God to bring to your mind any sin that has hindered or damaged your relationship with him. How can confession bring you closer to God?
