2 Minutes - SILENCE, STILLNESS AND CENTERING WITH GOD
1 John 2:15-17
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
One of the greatest challenges in life is fighting what might be called “love for the world.” Without even being aware of it, we often find our minds comparing ourselves with others, wanting to hold on to what we have rather than sharing, judging the actions of others and even controlling those around us to get what we want. Our lives become characterized by fear, self-gratification and self-protection.
The key to rejecting love for the world is to dwell on the love of the Father instead. When we know that we are loved and believe God will always provide for us, the riches of this world will seem empty by comparison. Instead, the love of the Father will ll us and enable us to experience the joy of generosity and freedom from striving.
How might the world be tempting you away from living God’s way?
